Texas Counties with a Civil War Accent

As the US Army campaigned to eliminate Indian options for not living on a reservation, Texas saw a flurry of new counties. The new entities in West Texas and the Panhandle included many that honored leaders from the Confederate era; officials reorganized a few farther east, also naming them after Civil War heroes.
